 In the last century, the English literature has undergone a significant change. It is commonly used to differentiate Modern English Literature from Post Modern English Literature.

Modern literature began in the late 1800s and continues to this day. Post-modern literature began in the 1960s and continues to this day. Though the two are different in many ways, they share similarities.
