The Oedipus Rex by Sophocles: A Complete Overview


The Oedipus Rex by Sophocles is a classical Greek tragedy written in the 5th century BC. The play tells the story of Oedipus, a King of Thebes who unwittingly killed his father and married his mother. In the play, Oedipus eventually finds out the truth, realizes the extent of his actions, and takes a personal and moral journey towards self-awareness, self-knowledge and understanding.

Oedipus Rex is a tragedy written by Sophocles. It is about a man who has a curse put on him by the gods. He unknowingly marries his mother and kills his father. When he realizes what he has done, he seeks out the murderer of his father and eventually kills him. After this, he is driven mad and commits suicide. The play is about Oedipus learning the truth about his lineage. It is also a play about the gods. It is a great play because it is full of suspense and has a lot of complex themes.

The characters in the play include the protagonist, Oedipus, his mother and father, Jocasta and Laius, and Jocasta and Laius's sons, Eteocles and Polynices.

The Oedipus Rex by Sophocles is a play that has a lot of characters and a lot of different plots. The play starts off with the King of Thebes and the chorus of elders. In the chorus, they talk about the King of Thebes and what he has done for Thebes. They also talk about the prophecy that the man who will kill the king will also kill his father and marry his mother. The chorus then goes on to talk about the King's son, Oedipus. The chorus then goes on to talk about how Oedipus is the King's son, but he was not born to his father. He was born to a woman who was supposed to be the King's wife. Oedipus is told that he is the son of a prophecy and that he will kill his father and marry his mother. The chorus then talks about how Oedipus was raised to be a king. They also talk about how he was raised by two different men. The chorus then goes on to talk about how Oedipus was raised to be a king. They also talk about how he was raised by two different men.
